I make art and do cultural criticism about technology in relation to waste, violence, and intimacy. My work spans media art, film, lecture performances, writing, teaching, curating and revolutionary action. I combine cultural theory, hands-on experimentation with devices, and field research into how everyday technologies are used under extreme circumstances. This has included accompanying frontline soldiers in the Russo-Ukrainian war, navigating dumping sites in Nigeria and Kenya, interviewing witnesses of US drone attacks in Pakistan, removing razor wire from the EU border fence in Hungary and initiating a collective of artists and engineers as part of the Rojava Revolution in Northeast Syria.

My work is exhibited at venues, biennales and festivals like ZKM Karlsruhe, Venice Architecture Biennale, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Ars Electronica, Nairobi National Museum, Lviv Museum of Ethnography, Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig and the London Film Festival. It has been featured on television and in publications including Arte Tracks, Al Jazeera, ARD, Newsweek, Libération, and Neural. My book Deserted Devices and Wasted Fences (2021) was published by Triarchy Press.

My work with the Rojava Center for Democratic Technologies was awarded an Ars Electronica Honorary Mention in 2026 and was nominated for the S+T+ARTS Prize 2024, the European Union’s Prize for Science, Technology and Art.

I teach with a focus on integrating cultural theory, technological practice, and field research. After a PhD from the University of Sussex, I held academic posts in London and Munich, where I was Professor of Performance and Technology at the University of Music and Theatre (2023–2026). In 2022, I received the Award of the University of Rojava in Northeast Syria for my work in education as part of the Rojava Revolution. I am currently Artistic Director of Fabricatie - platform for art and instrialisation in the Netherlands and a Fellow at V2_ Lab for the Unstable Media.
